The Tres Agaves management team has over 60 years of  combined distilled spirits and marketing experience, having launched or re-launched well over a dozen brands. The leadership team brings diverse, complementary experiences to the table. The leadership has successfully operated and developed Tequila and other spirits brands in the past. The team’s experience includes working at every level of the distilled spirits industry, and decades of relationships will be leveraged to assist in the achievement of goals and producing the most enjoyable Tequila and beverages on the planet.


Barry Augus, CEO

Barry Augus, CPA (inactive) /MBA, has over 12 years of experience in the Tequila industry, including five years as President of Cabo Wabo Enterprises. During Augus’ tenure at Cabo Wabo, he oversaw the growth of the Tequila brand from 10k to 70k cases (48% y/y growth). Augus worked for 14 years in public accounting, including nine years with Arthur Andersen & Co. and five years as a managing partner of a midsized accounting/business management firm. He was also the VP/Controller of then-start-up company salesforce.com, helping to structure and launch the company and creating back-end infrastructure to support anticipated scaling. As an original founder of Tres Agaves Restaurants, he was responsible for the company’s branding, marketing and business development.

A perfect day for Barry is spending time with his family, playing a mean game of tennis and enjoying a perfect margarita.

Eric Rubin, Brand Director

Eric Rubin is one of the country's leading Tequila experts and restaurateurs.  He is the original founder of Tres Agaves Restaurants and the creator of the Tres Agaves brand & concept. He developed and implemented what is considered by many to be the best staff Tequila training program in the industry. He has been Tres Agaves’ media representative and PR director, leading hundreds of industry and consumer focused Tequila seminars, margarita making classes, and counts over 120 distillery tours to his credit. Mr. Rubin has also handled high-profile public relations affairs for the consumer beverages company Odwalla.

In  2008 he founded SF Restaurant Softball Days, which has grown to include teams from 16 restaurants & bars.  He is a sports enthusiast who enjoys playing softball, racquetball and tennis.

Kim Charney, VP of Sales & Marketing

Kim Charney comes to Tres Agaves with 10 years experience in the beverage alcohol business. After graduating from Indiana University with a major in journalism and concentration in business, she worked for Edelman Public Relations and then Dome Communications working on Fortune 500 Brands like Whirlpool Appliances, Sears, Interface Inc, etc. After quickly building a career she was recruited away to Brown-Forman where she launched a successful career that included the most successful new product launch for Brown-Forman today. Charney was challenged early in her career to work on Finlandia Vodka and from there became the brand manager for new products and was quickly promoted to run and launch Little Black Dress Wines. In just 3 years she obtained double digit growth year over year and improved profitability by 150%. In her role as Brand Manager, she led all activities for the brand from the North America region, including financials, cost of goods, marketing, packaging, budgets. In her three years she launched more than 8 varietals and created and implemented packaging changes and national promotions. Before leaving to join the Tres team she created the concept, flavor work, packaging and strategy for a new vodka Brown-Forman is launching in September.
